Please give careful consideration to adopting a cat. Animals are not toys or short-term commitments. Animals for adoption are placed with adopters with full consideration given to the specific needs of each animal.

Adoption Rules

  1. Animals are placed to live with adopters in a private residence only.
  2. Cats are adopted to live with the adopter(s) and stay there; the adopter(s) agree(s) that this cat is not being adopted as a gift for anybody else or on anybody else’s behalf (friend, family member, co-worker, etc.).
  3. Cats will be kept strictly as indoor pets.
  4. All cats must be sterilized (spayed or neutered) prior to adoption.
  5. The adopter(s) must furnish documentation that they either own a residence, or that the adopter has the landlord’s written permission to have a pet in the residence. Adopter(s) must furnish proof of income to ensure solvency to care for the cat.

  7. The adopter(s) acknowledge(s) that Persian Rescue of Virginia reserves the right, without giving any further explanation or notice, to have an authorized representative perform home visits prior and/or after the adoption. Such visit(s) is/are for the sole purpose of insuring that the animal will be and is properly cared for. Furthermore, Persian Rescue of Virginia reserves the right to investigate into the living conditions of any cat adopted from this rescue. The adopter(s) understand(s) that, if a cat is being kept in violation of the rules and requirements of this Adoption Agreement, Persian Rescue of Virginia will (re)claim any and all cats in this location immediately and may pursue legal action against the adopter that could result in substantial fines/penalties.

  11. The animal must be maintained humanely and in accordance with all laws and ordinances in force in the jurisdiction in which the adopter resides. The adopter(s) agree(s) that the cat will be provided with a safe, well-tempered, and well-ventilated living and sleeping space. Also, the cat will be provided with clean litter in sanitary litter boxes located indoors, will be fed premium cat food as per advice by the representative(s) of Persian Rescue of Virginia, and will be given plenty of water changed daily.
